Privacy policy

Review before publishing. This page is a generic text: adapt it to your site, fill in the parts in [brackets], then delete this box. Where legal obligations are involved, have it reviewed by a lawyer if needed.

問道研究所 (“this site”, at https://reresearch.org/en/discipline-home-en/) respects the personal data of everyone who visits. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, whom we share it with, how long we keep it, and how you can exercise your rights.

Who we are

This site is run by [operator name], [address], email [email]. For questions about personal data, use the details on the contact page.

What we collect

Browsing

You can read this site without giving us any personal data. Like every website, the server automatically logs requests (IP address, browser type, time and URL requested) for security and troubleshooting; the logs are deleted after [retention period, e.g. 30 days].

Comments

When you leave a comment we collect the name, email, website and text you enter, plus your IP address and browser user agent to help detect spam. Your email address is not published. An anonymised string created from your email (a hash) may be sent to the Gravatar service to see whether you use it; Gravatar’s privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture is shown publicly with it.

Accounts and submissions

Authors, editors and contributors need an account. We store the information you give in your profile (username, email, display name, biography). You can see and edit your profile at any time, except the username; site administrators can also see and edit it. Published entries show the author’s name and biography.

Media

If you upload images, avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS): visitors can download them and extract the location.

Cookies and browser storage

This site only uses cookies it needs to work: logging in, remembering comment details, and the chosen language on a multilingual site. Your night-reading preference is kept in your browser’s local storage and never sent to us. By default there are no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. See the cookie policy.

Embedded content and external services

Pages may include embedded content (videos, images, articles) from other websites. Embedded content behaves exactly as if you had visited the other site: it may collect data about you, use cookies, embed third-party tracking and monitor your interaction with it.

  • Formulas: pages with mathematics load the MathJax script from cdnjs.cloudflare.com, so your browser sends your IP address and browser details to Cloudflare.
  • Analytics: [This site uses no analytics / This site uses [service], which collects [data], [anonymised or not]].
  • AI features: [If the site offers AI features such as question answering or AI reflection: what you type is sent to [AI provider] for processing; their privacy policy is at [link]; this site does not use readers’ personal data to train AI models. Delete this item if not applicable.]

Whom we share data with

We do not sell, rent or trade your personal data. We pass it on only to providers that host, back up or protect this site from spam (only as far as needed to provide that service), or where the law requires it or it is necessary to protect the rights of this site and its users.

How long we keep data

Comments and their metadata are kept indefinitely so that follow-up comments can be recognised and approved automatically instead of being held for moderation. Profiles of registered users are kept until the account is deleted. Server logs are deleted after the period stated above.

Your rights

Under the applicable law (for example the EU General Data Protection Regulation or China’s Personal Information Protection Law) you may access, copy, correct and delete the personal data we hold about you, withdraw consent, ask for an export of your data, and complain to a supervisory authority. If you have an account or have left comments, you can ask for an exported file of everything we hold about you, or ask us to erase it (except what we must keep for administrative, legal or security purposes). Use the contact page; we reply within [30 days].

Where data is stored and how it is protected

Data is stored on servers in [country or region]. [If personal data is transferred abroad, state the recipient, purpose and legal basis.] We take reasonable technical and organisational measures (encrypted connections, access control, regular backups and updates), but no transmission over the internet is perfectly secure. Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Children

This site is meant for general readers and researchers, not for children under [13 / 16]. If you are the parent or guardian of a child who has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

When this policy changes we update the date at the top of this page; significant changes are also announced on the home page.
